Hi my name is Mazuwa. I am an active woman who is here to motivate and get my fellow women activated to move, stay healthy and live a positive well-balanced life. I love God and working out to worship music. It’s been a game changer for me. The Pandemic pushed us all into an uncomfortable situation. I wasn’t working, spent my days at home trying to figure out what this new way of living meant. Everyone was stuck at home and loosing loved ones they couldn’t say goodbye to, and it brought a lot of mixed emotions. While it was easy to celebrate not having to go into work in the first few weeks and months for some, it became apparent soon that it was no way of living. I remember drinking a lot of wine because my excuse was that I was on a mandatory vacation and that bad behavior caught up with me fast. With very little physical activity due to the quarantine and lots of time, food, wine, and endless Netflix series, the weight was creeping up, my mental health was going down, and my wellbeing was in the trash.
I had to do something to change the direction of where I was heading. For me it was about my kids first. I am their first example, and I wasn’t showing them a very good one. I have always been an active soul, and I had to dig deep to find her. That girl! The one who is confident, the one who is bold, the one who practices self-love, the one who cares about her life, her marriage, her children, her family, and her friendships. She was lost… gone.
I woke up one morning and decided to make myself a promise. Mazuwa, “You can do better” I told myself. I then made a commitment to myself to follow Hannah Eden’s FYR fitness program in its entirety. No quitting, no missing days, make it part of your lifestyle. Mind you, I have done this program so many times before plus so many other programs. I quit every one of them, every single time. I could never commit to any program past 2 weeks, Urgh! I remember getting mad all the time that it just did not work. Hindsight it was me that was the problem. But this time I stuck to the FYR program, and I saw results. My Body had changed, physically. I could see it; I could feel it. I was feeling great physically but mentally I couldn’t get a jump start.
The very same way I had committed to a fitness program for 6 weeks, I had to start training my mind to follow. I started listening to podcasts to help with self-development, ways of staying motivated, creating routines, and staying organized. I realized that I had lost or never even had all these skills. This is where I am. Re-discovering self. I am committed to learning to be kind to myself, to be a fruitful servant of God, to be great wife, mother, and friend. Its all about re-discovering you. Let’s dig deep together to be the best version of ourselves that we can be.
“Be you”
Love,
Mazuwa Nkhuwa-Hlahla
